Overview

Responsible for assisting the Controller with the day-to-day reporting of the Company’s managed properties by maintaining accurate books and records of each property and providing analysis and support.

 

The Junior Property Accountant will be responsible for creating a professional work environment, which reflects the PMC priorities of customer service, respect and collegiality among property team members, full compliance with the regulatory requirements, while following company policies and procedures and applicable regulations.  In addition, the Junior Property Accountant will be responsible for presenting to PMC and ownership periodic reports on financial issues.

 

Pay range: $60,000 - $65,000/year depending on experience. 

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Completes monthly and quarterly reporting packages and prepares reporting packages for distribution within established deadlines.
  • Reconciles all bank accounts associated with each property in assigned portfolio on a monthly basis.
  • Responsible for cash management of each property on a daily basis.
  • Prepares and enters all journal entries necessary to maintain balance sheet and income statement accounts to accurately reflect financial activity and balances.
  • Prepares workpapers for annual audit by outside auditors.
  • Assists with the preparation of annual budgets for all properties in assigned portfolio.
  • Maintains debt service schedules and verifies all debt service and reserve and escrow payments are made as required.
  • Completes periodic site visits and reports in accordance with company policy.
  • Assists Property Accountants and Senior Property Accountants and performs other accounting tasks as assigned.

 

Performance Metrics

  • Timely submission of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packages.
  • Accuracy of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packages.
  • Positive cash balances – no overdrafts
  • Timely and accurate completion of year-end audit workpapers.
  • Positive feedback from internal and external customers.
  • Journal entries supported by proper documentation in Yardi
  • Minimal % actual to budget variance for accounting line items

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Accounting internship - 1 year experience in general accounting preferred.
  • Requires valid driver’s license, insured vehicle and ability to travel (properties, offices, agencies, etc.)
